Survival vs Sexual Health

Many may not consider the overwhelming obstacles African-American women and adolescents face while trying to secure the basic physical needs for survival identified by Maslow’s Hierarchy of Need. Simply fulfilling these basic biological and physiological needs—air, food, drink, shelter, warmth, sex, sleep, etc. can be extremely difficult or nearly impossible. People who can't afford basic life necessities often have trouble accessing and affording quality sexual health services, which can result in increased risk for STIs.

Are there personal needs in your life which are not being met that hinders your ability to effectively care for your sexual health?
